i have contacted Sallie Mae on multiple occasions, I have worked out agreements that they later say i did not make, but i have the agreement in writing from their office, and they continuously HARRASS me. They call my home phone 10-20x times per day, every day including Saturday and Sunday. I spoke with a supervisor who i instructed that the calls need to stop! He advised me that as long as I owe he will continue with the calls. My next step is to get a lawsuit against them for violating FDCPA, but as of right now I am simply going to keep a log of the calls, and i will be sending a letter to the FTC, NY Attorney General, and to Sallie Mae - to see if they come to their senses.

they are allowed by law to call up to 8 times a day. once an hour if contact is not made. 7 days a week. you proably have more than one department tryin to reach you. there is also the guarantors office and third parties....there are ton of options. just answer the phone and give em a few minutes. and the calls will never stop. YOU OWE THE MONEY!!! i wish i could just tell all my creditors im gonna go ahead and stop payin you and i demand you stop tryin to collect! what world do you live in???

Quit your whining and pay your *** bills! Sallie Mae runs on Federal Laws and that trumps any state calling laws and they can call 7 days a week and there is nothing you can do BUT send in a Cease and Desist order but your basically waiving your right on being contacted for any reason..INCLUDING your bills. Have fun with keeping up with your whole account on your own..since obviously you people think you can do it better than the Sallie Mae reps.

In regard to Anonymous above, most people want to pay their bills, but when you are a college graduate and only making minimum wage at two jobs it is highly impossible!!! If you have a wonderful job, and are making tons of money consider yourself one of the lucky few, and quit condeming other people who are not as fortunate... WE ARE NOT THIEVES!!!!!

Obviously sallie mae is above all laws and can do whatever they want. My child has a loan though them with a co-signer, and all they do is harrass us day and night. It is funny, how we never receive any mail from them. I am not mentally stable, and right now they have pushed me to the edge. You call and finally get to speak with someone that seems to want to help you, then you call three days later and that person is no longer there. It is hard to pay a $350 payment a month, when you are taking home $160 every two weeks from 2 jobs! On one of my son's loans, we received a "handwritten letter stating that if he didn't pay the balance within 5 days, they were going to garnish his pay". Something needs to be done about Sallie Mae. It is a corupt organization and the government is so busy with all of the other corupt banking and insurance busineses they are completely ignoring this one, while it is driving many people insane!!!!

Hello. this is to whom it may concern. I have been receiving phone calls from Sallie Mae for the past 8 months on my cell phone. I have asked several times and more than that to have these calls to stop coming. I do not want to change my cell number just becasue Sallie Mae does not want to stop calling my number. I am not the person they are looking for and the person does not live in my household. This is very frustrating to keep erasing messages from Sallie Mae everyday and all day long. I have spoken to several representatives stating that they would remove my name from the list and still to this day Sallien Mae is harrassing me with these phone calls. I am sure that there is some corporate office that I can call to have Sallie Mae stop with the phone calls filling up my voicemail box. I have complained so much till they are now making these calls to my cell phone by way of automated recording. Please stop harrassing me. someone gave you the wrong number and you won't leave me alone. I will make my way to the top with this complaint. I will find someone to make you STOP harrassing me!!!!!!!!! I am not the person you are looking for.

call centers are still regulated by how many times they can call you, and if you are making contact with them for the first call; they are not permitted to continuously call you throughout the same day.

i am having the same issues--- i am wondering if there are any class action suits for harassment of customers

Sallie Mae isn't a collection agency, so they aren't subject to the FDCPA.
